What have you been up to since joining Greenphire?
Over the past few months I’ve invested time in getting to know our products and operational model. With this under my belt, I’ve enjoyed getting to know our clients and prospects in Europe.
I was also able to attend the Outsourcing Clinical Trials UK + Ireland conference in June. It was great to meet so many folks face to face. Their interest in patient convenience programs was notable.

What is the new Greenphire office like in Nottingham?
It’s great to have a centralised place to meet with clients and liaise with colleagues in operations, compliance and more. Having gone to school at the University of Nottingham to study Genetics, it’s great to be back on campus – it’s changed a lot!
What is the biggest challenge you feel facing pharmaceutical companies today in executing on clinical research studies?
Recruiting patients to studies and retaining those patients is the number one challenge facing the industry today. No question.
Are these challenges more or less prominent in the UK? EU?
The challenge of recruitment and retention isn’t isolated to Europe – it’s a global challenge. This is especially true as more specialised medicines are introduced; patients can potentially be travelling from all over the world to participate in a trial.
The good news is that the individuals that I’ve had the opportunity to connect with are extremely patient-focused. They are absolutely committed to making it easier for those who are not well to participate in trials. Absorbing the out-of-pocket costs and facilitating travel is breaking down barriers and making clinical trials more accessible for those who wouldn’t have had the opportunity to participate in them in the past.
What experiences led you to Greenphire?
Most recently I was a solution sales manager working with Real World Evidence patient data services for a major CRO (IQVIA). Prior to that role, I sold software, insurance and even chemicals before I found myself working at Boehringer Ingelheim as a medical rep.
Name a fun fact that people would be surprised to learn about you.
Prior to working in healthcare, I took a brief sabbatical where I played poker for a living!
When I’m not in the office…
Looking after my son is most of my spare time! I manage his football team which is good fun and I still manage to play myself for a local team.
